And now, in no particular order, some more photos from Annette & Nicky’s 2009 ACL road trip.

Sunday, muddy Sunday.

Sunday, muddy Sunday.

Poor Nett lost her shoes early on - Sunday's mud was ravenous. Walking down Barton Springs and popping in and out of bars and restuarants looking like vagrants was fun. There were audible groans from people who weren't yet aware that Zilker Park was a cesspool - as if we weren't aware we were coverd in mud and passersby were just so fed up with our lack of hygiene

Yeah, I caught this guy picking his nose. Heh.

Mmmmmm, fried pickles.

We had the BEST brunch here on Saturday. Trash can plate, I think, and margaritas, and guac. The morning was made more hilarious by the world's most uptight, unfriendly birthday party situated right next to us. Never have we encountered so many miserable choads forced to meet and greet against their will.

At Chuy's Friday night. Stop with the compliments already, you're making me *blush*.

If I were going to ever wear a vest, this is the only one I'd consider.

Friday afternoon, shortly after our arrival. Gorgeous day. Gorgeous broads!

I loved our time at Willie's Place, in Carl's Corner, Texas. Also dig Annette's What Would Joyce DeWitt Do? tshirt.

Sunset over Kansas, as captured through the passenger side window. Call Ansel Adams, 'cause it's ON!

Annette and I have gone to ACL for the past three years, and I’m thrilled to say we got $50 tickets for next year’s event. It’s such a peaceful vacation for me – we have a spa day, then spend three days in the sun, drinking margaritas and listening to live music. This year, the weather got in the way and we didn’t even make it to Saturday’s shows, and Sunday was fun, but dirty. Despite these setbacks, the entire trip was fantasic – fortunately Austin offers a lot more than just the festival. As far as enjoying ACL, though, Friday was the best day by far, and one of my favorite days we’ve ever spent at Zilker Park.

"It's the cowboy hat, right?" he responded confidently when we asked if Annette could take her picture with him. "Um, no. It's your Trolling for Tuna t-shirt."

Friday is always the day we get giddy at how beautiful Austin is, and how peaceful the entire festival feels. It's hard to describe the vibe you get once you enter Zilker Park. I'm staring to feel like a hippie, so let's just leave it alone, shall we?

Phoenix was one of the festival standouts. It was balmy and warm on Friday afternoon, and we enjoyed the new lush lawn at Zilker. Lead singer Thomas Mann told the crowd we were the largest Phoenix had ever played for, then he launched himself into the audience. His sincerity and joy was contagious, and I got goosebumps. I think we both cried a little bit - sharing a moment of pure bliss that only music can bring.

Friday night we rocked out with tens of thousands of fans to Them Crooked Vultures, featuring Dave Grohl, John Paul Jones, and Josh Homme. If you look hard enough you can see testosterone comingled with pot smoke in the sky. Once again we felt like we were in some sort of musically historic moment. The bass pounded in our ears and hearts, and collectively we noted where we were, and how good we felt.

Walking down Barton Springs opens up a whole new world of wonders, including bears smoking out of bongs. It's magical.

Everything is good at Chuy's, especially the margaritas.
